Acrylic Dividers Available for Purchase

Protective acrylic dividers in public places have become visual reminders of our new normal amidst COVID-19. Many restaurants and shops now use the acrylic dividers to protect workers and customers. UniPrint offers similar products for Ohio State colleges and departments seeking additional ways to prepare their space for the return of students, faculty and staff.

Like face masks, barriers help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by intercepting large aerosol drops that are released when exhaling, speaking, singing, coughing or sneezing.

UniPrint’s acrylic dividers can be used as a precautionary boundary in service areas, near desks or in other areas needing additional infrastructure.

“A lot of areas on campus have a high number of cubicles,” said Jeff Dible, director of UniPrint. “Customers want to separate these cubicles more, and this is a good way to do it and it’s very cost-effective. When people started thinking about coming back, they started realizing there was a need for this sort of physical barrier,” Dible said.

UniPrint offers two types of dividers: tabletops and hanging barriers. The dividers are made with 1/8" clear acrylic and rounded edges. Customization and installation are available.

“We have stocked up on the material needed for production of the dividers and the expected demand," Dible said. “They don’t require a lot of accessories and are easy to set up.”

UniPrint gets the material from a number of different sources, both in Central Ohio and around the country. The cost ranges from $26 to $84, per divider, and lead time is approximately one to two weeks.

Acrylic dividers are just one tool available. The university requires masks be worn by anyone entering a campus facility or when outdoors and unable to maintain six feet of physical distance. Learn more about these requirements on the Safe and Healthy Buckeyes website.
